Feral cat control
Feral cats kill large numbers of native animals and can spread disease to livestock. Careful, targeted control helps protect both.

The problem and the damage
- Predation of native small mammals, birds and reptiles.
- Spreading diseases such as toxoplasmosis, which can affect sheep and goats.
- Pressure on poultry and other small animals.
Why act early
Feral cats breed quickly and are hard to see in daylight. Reducing numbers before native animals breed in spring gives wildlife a better chance.
Best time to act
Feral cat control can be done year-round. Many landholders focus on the months before native wildlife breeds in spring.
How we control them
Shooting by a Category D licensed shooter, usually at night with thermal imaging, which helps find cats and clearly identify each animal.
We take care to tell feral cats apart from pets and working cats, and we talk with you about neighbours' pets before any work starts.
All work follows the Code of Practice for the Humane Shooting of Pest Animals in NSW and NSW firearms laws. We never target native species.
Before we start
- A site risk assessment covering boundaries, houses, roads, stock, neighbours and native wildlife areas.
- A written agreement setting out what we will do, where and when, before any work starts.
- Safe areas and times agreed with you. We ask you to tell us where stock and people will be.
- No unauthorised people on site while we are working.
- All equipment supplied. You do not need to provide anything.
Who it's for
- Farms
- Rural landholders
- Councils
- Golf courses
- Schools
- Industrial sites
Where a site is close to people, such as schools, golf courses or industrial sites, work is planned around safe times. If shooting is not suitable for a site, we will tell you honestly.
Neighbour programs
Feral animals do not stop at the fence. When neighbouring properties book together, we can plan one coordinated program across the boundary, which usually gives better results for everyone. Ask about group pricing.
Questions about feral cat control
What about my neighbours' pet cats?
We talk this through with you before we start. Good planning, clear identification at night and talking to neighbours where needed all help keep pets safe.
Can you work near houses?
Only where it is safe. Every site gets a risk assessment, and we will tell you honestly if shooting is not suitable.
